Negative Impacts of Social Media on Mental Health

Recently, I found an article full of information about social media and how it can negatively affect children’s mental health. This article did an amazing job explaining how social media has its pros, while also having its cons. Many people, especially teens, and kids, benefit from social media, being able to stay in touch with friends, sharing their opinions, or just having fun posting online. However, social media is something that we should be wary of, especially because of the many dangers that it poses, such as a negative impact on our sleep, and self-esteem, and can expose us to harmful content.

The article also shows interesting research that shows that social media may have a link to depression. Some studies show that social media can be connected to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and sadness. Other studies suggest that your feelings can be based on how you use social media. For example, regularly interacting with posts may have a different effect than if you’re leisurely scrolling.

Lastly, this article provides great advice for parents on how they can be aware of the dangers of social media, and what they can do to prevent it, The article goes into detail about limiting children’s screentime, practicing good digital habits, and creating an environment where kids feel safe to express themselves and share what they see online, This article is highly informative and helpful, so I highly recommend checking it out here!
